If you are looking for prayers for your siblings, this page gives you a prayer you can read aloud as written, along with a shorter version for busy moments. Pray it when you think of your brothers or sisters, when you hear news about them, or when your relationship with them feels strained or distant. You can use the words exactly as they are or let them be a starting point for your own.

Prayers for My Siblings

Father, I bring my brothers and sisters to you today. You know each of them by name, and you know the places where they are tired, afraid, or unsure of the next step. Watch over their health and their work. Give them rest when their days run long, and wisdom when they face decisions they did not expect. Where they carry grief or disappointment, meet them there and comfort them in ways only you can.

Lord, you also know the history between us. Some of our memories are happy, and some still sting. Heal what is broken where you see fit, and soften any hard feelings I hold onto. Help me to listen more than I speak, to be patient when we disagree, and to show the kind of love that does not keep score. Let my siblings feel your presence through me, and let them grow closer to you in their own time and their own way. Keep our family rooted in you, and let us be a place of grace for one another. Amen.

A Shorter Version to Pray in a Moment

Lord, I lift up my brothers and sisters to you right now. Be near them in whatever they are facing today, and give them the strength and peace they need. Heal the hurts between us where it is your will, and help me to love them the way you love them. Thank you that you hear every name I speak to you. Amen.

Scriptures to Pray Alongside

Numbers 6:24-26

24 ‘The LORD bless you, and keep you. 25 The LORD make his face to shine on you, and be gracious to you. 26 The LORD lift up his face toward you, and give you peace.’

(WEB)

Pray this blessing over each sibling by name, asking God to keep them, shine his face toward them, and give them peace. It works well as a daily blessing you speak over the family during a phone call or a meal together.

Romans 12:10

In love of the brothers be tenderly affectionate to one another; in honor preferring one another…

(WEB)

Use this verse to ask God to help you honor your siblings above your own comfort. Pray that affection and respect would mark the way you speak to them, especially when old patterns start to return.

Psalm 133:1

See how good and how pleasant it is for brothers to live together in unity!

(WEB)

This psalm celebrates brothers living together in unity. Pray that God would draw your family into that kind of harmony, even when the road to it is slow and uneven.

Philippians 2:3-4

3 Doing nothing through rivalry or through conceit, but in humility, each counting others better than himself; 4 each of you not just looking to his own things, but each of you also to the things of others.

(WEB)

Ask God to shape your heart so you look out for your siblings’ interests as well as your own. Pray for humility in the small choices you make each week, like who you call first or whose needs you notice.

Ephesians 4:2-3

2 With all lowliness and humility, with patience, bearing with one another in love; 3 being eager to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.

(WEB)

Pray these words for your family when tension rises. Ask God to give everyone gentleness and patience, and to help all of you keep the peace that binds you together.

How to Pray This Prayer

Many people find it helpful to pray for siblings in the early morning, before the day’s demands arrive, or in the evening when the house is quiet. Keep a list of each brother or sister by name on a note in your phone or in a journal, and pray through it slowly. If you write the names down, you can also add a line about a current need so you remember to check back on it.

You do not have to pray alone. Invite a spouse, a close friend, or another sibling to pray with you, either in person or over a call. If you are able, pray the blessing together at a family gathering, or send one sibling a short message saying you have been praying for them today.

A Blessing to Close

May the Lord keep each of your brothers and sisters in his care, and may his face shine warmly on them. May they know they are loved, both by their family and by God. May peace settle over their homes and hearts, and may your family grow in grace and kindness for all the years ahead.
