These daily prayers for husbands are written for wives, mothers, sisters and friends who want to lift a husband before God each day. Pray the main prayer in the morning, before the house wakes up, or at the kitchen table as the coffee cools. You can read it aloud exactly as written, or use it as a starting point and add the names of the particular struggles you carry for him.

Daily Prayers for Husbands

Lord, thank You for the man You have given me as a husband. Thank You that You knew him before he knew himself, and that You are still at work in him. Today I ask that You would be near to him at work, in traffic, in meetings where he has to hold his tongue and in quiet moments when he feels he has nothing left to give. Give him strength that does not depend on his own performance, and let him rest in You when he is tired.

Father, guard his heart from bitterness, discouragement and the quiet fear that he is not enough. Where he carries worries about money, health, his parents, or the future, lift that weight from his shoulders and place it in Your hands. Make him a man of integrity whom others can trust, and help him lead our home with gentleness and courage. Let him feel Your love so deeply that it spills over into how he treats me and our children.

Thank You that Your mercy is new every morning. Forgive us both for the words we have said and the silences we have kept. Draw us closer to each other and closer to You. Keep him safe today, go before him in every task, and bring him home to us at the end of the day with a grateful heart. Amen.

A Shorter Version to Pray in a Moment

Lord, my husband is out there today, and You see every step he takes. Be his strength when he is weary, his peace when he is anxious and his courage when he is afraid. Keep his heart close to Yours, and help us love each other well today. Thank You for him. Amen.

Scriptures to Pray Alongside

Psalm 127:1

Unless the LORD builds the house, they labor in vain who build it. Unless the LORD watches over the city, the watchman guards it in vain.

Pray this for your husband’s work and his home, asking God to build what he is building and to keep watch over the household while he sleeps and while he labors.

Ephesians 5:25

Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the assembly, and gave himself up for it…

(WEB)

Ask God to help your husband love you with the kind of self-giving care that Christ shows the church, especially on the days when love feels costly.

Philippians 4:6-7

6 In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus.

(WEB)

Bring his worries to God by name, asking that the peace of God would guard his mind and heart when pressure builds at work or at home.

Proverbs 3:5-6

5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. 6 In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.

(WEB)

Pray that your husband would trust the Lord with his decisions, especially the ones where he cannot see the outcome, and that God would make his path clear step by step.

Isaiah 40:31

But those who wait for the LORD will renew their strength. They will mount up with wings like eagles. They will run, and not be weary. They will walk, and not faint.

(WEB)

Ask the Lord to renew your husband’s strength when he is worn down, so that he can keep going without losing heart or faith.

How to Pray This Prayer

Many wives find it helps to pray for their husbands while the house is still quiet, before the first demands of the day arrive. Keep a copy of the prayer in your Bible, on the fridge or in your phone’s notes so you can return to it. If your hands are busy, pray it while you make his lunch or fold his shirts, letting each small task remind you of the person you are interceding for.

You might also invite a friend or your church women’s group to pray with you once a week, or ask your husband what he would like you to lift up. Some couples pray the prayer together at breakfast or before bed. Whatever rhythm you choose, come back to it faithfully, even on days when the words feel thin. God hears the simple prayer of a faithful heart.

A Blessing to Close

May the Lord bless your husband and keep him, and may His face shine upon him and give him peace. May He make him strong in faith, gentle in spirit and steady in love. And may the Lord bless the one who prays for him, that she would be held and encouraged by the same God who holds her husband.
