If you are looking for daily prayers for siblings, this page gives you a prayer you can read aloud as written, or use as a starting point for your own words. Pray it in the morning before the house wakes up, or in the evening when the day has settled and you have a few quiet minutes to think about the people you grew up with, or the ones you still share a family table with.

Daily Prayers for Siblings

Lord, thank you for the brothers and sisters you have given me. Some of them I have known my whole life, and some of them I have only come to understand as adults. Thank you that we share a history, even when the memories don’t match and the old arguments still sting. Help me see them the way you see them, as people you know completely and love without condition.

Watch over them today. Keep them safe on the roads, at work, and in the places where they feel pressure they never talk about. Give them rest when they are worn thin, and courage when they face decisions that scare them. Where there is distance between us, whether it is miles or silence or hurt that has not healed, be the one who brings us back toward each other in your time and in your way. Soften my heart where it has grown hard, and show me the first honest step I can take.

Let my words to them be kind and truthful today. Guard my tongue from sarcasm and old scorekeeping, and help me to listen before I speak. Give us both the grace to forgive what needs forgiving and the wisdom to set good boundaries where they are needed. Above all, let us grow closer to you, so that whatever happens between us, we are held together by your love. Amen.

A Shorter Version to Pray in a Moment

Father, bless my brothers and sisters today. Keep them safe, give them peace in the middle of their busy hours, and let them feel your nearness. Help me to be patient and gentle with them, to speak with love, and to forgive quickly. Draw us closer to you and to each other. Amen.

Scriptures to Pray Alongside

Romans 12:10

In love of the brothers be tenderly affectionate to one another; in honor preferring one another…

(WEB)

Paul asks believers to be devoted to one another with genuine affection and to honor each other above themselves. Pray this for your siblings by asking God to make your family ties warm and steady, and to help each of you look for chances to give honor rather than keep score.

Psalm 133:1

See how good and how pleasant it is for brothers to live together in unity!

(WEB)

This short psalm celebrates brothers living together in unity and calls that unity good and pleasant. Use it as a prayer for harmony in your family, that God would heal divisions and help you live together in peace even when your lives look very different.

Ephesians 4:2-3

2 With all lowliness and humility, with patience, bearing with one another in love; 3 being eager to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.

(WEB)

These verses describe humility, gentleness and patience, bearing with one another in love. Pray for your siblings to grow in these qualities, and ask God to show you where your own impatience needs to be laid down so that unity can be kept.

1 John 4:20-21

20 If a man says, “I love God,” and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who doesn’t love his brother whom he has seen, how can he love God whom he has not seen? 21 This commandment we have from him, that he who loves God should also love his brother.

(WEB)

John says that love for God and love for our brother belong together and cannot be separated. Let this verse move your prayer from words about your family toward a practical love that shows up in ordinary days, and ask God to make that love real in both of you.

Proverbs 17:17

A friend loves at all times; and a brother is born for adversity.

(WEB)

This proverb speaks of a friend who loves at all times and a brother born for adversity. Pray that your siblings would be people who stand with each other in hard seasons, and that God would make you dependable helpers when the others need support.

How to Pray This Prayer

Choose a steady time of day, such as the moment you make your coffee, your drive to work, or the few minutes before you fall asleep. Sit somewhere quiet and read the prayer slowly, pausing after each sentence to name the particular sibling you have in mind. If you have a photo or a text thread open, let it remind you of who you are praying for, but keep your eyes closed when you speak to God.

You might also invite someone else to pray with you, a spouse, a close friend, or a sibling who is willing. Praying together over the phone or in person can soften old tensions and remind everyone that you are on the same side. If a sibling is going through something hard, write their name on a card, put it in your Bible, and return to this prayer whenever you open it.

A Blessing to Close

May the Lord keep your brothers and sisters close today and walk with them through every hour. May his face shine on them with kindness, and may his peace settle over their homes and their hearts. May he knit your family together in love that outlasts every disagreement.
