These prayers are written for the times you want to bring your mother or father before God but do not know where to begin. Pray them in the morning before the phone rings, at the hospital bedside, or in the car on the way to a hard conversation. Read them aloud exactly as written, or use them as a starting point and speak the words that come to your own heart.
Prayers for Parents
Father, I bring my mother and father to You today. You know every year they have carried, every decision that kept them awake, and every worry they have never said out loud. Give them rest that does not depend on their circumstances. Where their health is failing, give them strength for each day and wisdom for the doctors and the decisions ahead. Where their marriage is strained, mend what is broken and show them how to speak kindly to each other again.
Lord, watch over their finances, their work, and the small daily burdens no one else notices. Guard their hearts from bitterness and fear, and teach them to lean on You when they feel they must hold everything together alone. If they have drifted from You or feel too tired to pray, draw near to them in ways they can recognize. Let them know they are loved, both by You and by the children who want to honor them. Thank You for the gift of their lives. Amen.
A Shorter Version to Pray in a Moment
Lord, I lift my parents to You right now. You see the weight they are carrying and the fears they keep quiet. Give them peace in this moment, strength for what is next, and the sense that they are not alone. Be near to them today and let them feel Your care through someone who loves them. Amen.

How to Pray This Prayer
Choose a regular time, such as early in the morning with a cup of coffee or during your lunch break, so that your parents become part of your daily rhythm. You might keep a short written list of their needs on the kitchen counter or in your phone and check off the answered prayers over time. Pray with your hands open on your lap or resting on a photograph of them.
Invite a sibling, a spouse, or a close friend to pray the same words with you, especially if your parents are going through a season of illness or grief. Hearing others speak their names before God can strengthen your own faith and remind everyone that the family is held together by more than human effort.
A Blessing to Close
May the Lord bless your mother and father and keep them in His care. May He make His face shine on them and give them peace that stays with them through every season. May your parents feel the love of family and the faithfulness of God working through each day.
