These prayers are for the week ahead, the days that stretch before you with their meetings, deadlines, errands and quiet worries. Pray them on Sunday evening, first thing on Monday, or whenever you sit down to plan what is coming. You can read the main prayer aloud exactly as written, or use it as a starting point and speak your own words into the spaces.
Prayers for the Week Ahead
Lord, I come to you before the week begins. You already know what is waiting for me: the calendar that is fuller than I would like, the conversation I have been dreading, the bills that need attention, the people I love who are struggling in ways I cannot fix. Thank you that none of it surprises you. Give me clarity about what matters most, and the wisdom to let some things go. When my plans fall apart, which they will, help me hold them loosely and trust that you are still at work.
Father, go before me into each day. Steady my thoughts when I feel rushed, and slow my words when I am tired or short-tempered. Give me patience with the people I work with and live with, especially when they make things harder than they need to be. Where I need courage, give it. Where I need rest, remind me to take it without guilt. Protect my body and my mind from the anxiety that tries to run ahead of me, and bring me back to the present hour whenever I drift. Be near to those I am praying for this week, the ones who are sick, grieving, afraid or far from home. Hold them in ways I cannot.
Lord, I give you the whole week, the good and the hard, the planned and the unexpected. Let my work be an offering, my rest be a gift, and my relationships be a place where your kindness shows. Keep me faithful in small things and honest in big ones. I trust you with what I cannot see. Amen.
A Shorter Version to Pray in a Moment
Lord, this week is in your hands. I cannot see what is coming, but you can. Go with me into the meetings, the errands and the hard conversations. Give me calm when I am pressed, kindness when I am tired, and the sense to pause before I speak. Keep the people I love close to you, and keep me close too. Amen.

Read this slowly before Monday begins, and let it remind you that God’s mercy is new each morning. Pray that you would meet each day of the week expecting his faithfulness rather than dreading the next problem.
Philippians 4:6-7

Isaiah 40:31
But those who wait for the LORD will renew their strength. They will mount up with wings like eagles. They will run, and not be weary. They will walk, and not faint.
(WEB)
Bring this promise to God when your energy is already spent before the week has started. Ask him to renew your strength for the tasks in front of you, one day and one hour at a time.
How to Pray This Prayer
Many people find it helpful to pray these words early on Monday, before the phone and inbox take over. Sit somewhere quiet with a cup of coffee or tea, and keep a pen nearby. As you pray, jot down the specific names and situations that come to mind, then pray them again by name. Writing them down also gives you a list to return to later in the week.
You might also pray this prayer with someone else. A spouse, a friend, or a small group can read it together over the phone or around a table, each person adding one concern for the week. Praying in company reminds you that you are not carrying these things alone, and it gives you someone to ask how things went when the week is over.
A Blessing to Close
May the Lord go before you and beside you in every hour of this week. May he give you steady hands, a patient heart and a clear mind. May his peace guard you when the day grows heavy, and may you rest in the knowledge that you are known, loved and held. Go forward in that peace.
