These prayers for daily grace ask God to meet you with his strength, patience and kindness in the ordinary hours of your day. Pray them first thing in the morning, before the phone and the to-do list take over, or whenever you feel your reserves running low. You can read the prayer aloud exactly as written, or use it as a starting point and speak your own words in the spaces it opens up.
Prayers for Daily Grace
Lord, I come to you before the day begins, and I admit I do not have enough in myself to get through it well. I know the hours ahead will bring tasks I can manage and some I dread. There will be a tense conversation, a long list, a child who needs patience I do not feel, and a body that may ache or tire sooner than I want. Give me the grace to meet each of those things as they come, not all at once. Help me notice the small mercies you place in my path, like a kind word, a quiet minute or a task that goes more smoothly than I expected.
When I snap at someone, soften my heart and help me say sorry without making excuses. When I am tempted to worry about tomorrow or to replay yesterday, bring me back to this hour and this step. Let your kindness shape how I speak and how I listen, especially to the people who are hardest to love. Keep my hands steady for the work in front of me and my mind open to your guidance. I do not need to carry the whole day on my own, because you already carry it with me. Thank you for being faithful to me every morning, even when I forget to ask. Amen.
A Shorter Version to Pray in a Moment
Father, I need your grace for this next hour. Steady my breathing, slow my words and help me see the person in front of me as you see them. Give me patience where I am tired and wisdom where I feel unsure. Remind me that your mercy is new this morning, and let it carry me into what comes next. Amen.

How to Pray This Prayer
Many people find it helps to pray this prayer while still in bed or at the kitchen table, before the day’s noise begins. Keep a cup of coffee or a glass of water in your hands while you speak, so that your body settles and your attention stays with the words. If you have a few minutes at midday, you can return to the shorter version while you walk, wait for the kettle or sit in the car before going inside.
You can also pray this prayer with someone else. A spouse, a roommate or a friend can read it aloud over you before work, and you can take turns praying it for each other. Writing the prayer on a card and tucking it in your bag or on the fridge gives you a reminder to return to it when the day gets hard.
A Blessing to Close
May the Lord give grace to the one who reads these words, enough for each hour and each task. May his kindness go before them into every conversation, and may his peace guard their heart when the day grows long. May they rest in the knowledge that they are loved, and that the mercy of God is waiting for them again tomorrow morning.
