This prayer is for the days when you are tired of waiting, tired of trying, and not sure you can keep going. Pray it in the morning before the day’s demands arrive, during a long stretch of difficulty, or in the evening when you feel depleted. You can read it aloud exactly as written, or use it as a starting point and speak in your own words what is weighing on you.
Prayers for Endurance
Lord, you see me this morning and you know how long this has been going on. Some days I can manage the weight, and other days I feel it pressing down on my chest before I have even gotten out of bed. I am tired in my body, tired in my mind, and sometimes tired of asking for help. Give me the strength I do not have on my own, not a strength that pretends everything is fine, but one that can hold steady while things remain hard.
Help me take the next step and then the one after that, rather than looking at everything at once. When the work, the illness, the family strain, or the uncertainty feels endless, remind me that you are not running out of patience with me. Steady my heart when I want to quit, and give me the honesty to ask for rest, wisdom, and support from the people you have placed around me. Let me not measure my faithfulness by how well I feel, but by whether I keep turning toward you.
Carry what I cannot carry, and keep my hope alive even when it burns low. Teach me to trust that you are working in what I cannot yet see. I give you this stretch of road, with all its unknowns, and I ask you to walk it with me. Amen.
A Shorter Version to Pray in a Moment
Father, I am worn down and I need you right now. Give me enough strength for this next hour, and enough faith to believe that you are still with me. Help me take one faithful step, then another. I trust you to keep me going when I cannot keep myself going. Amen.

But those who wait for the LORD will renew their strength. They will mount up with wings like eagles. They will run, and not be weary. They will walk, and not faint.

Romans 5:3-5
3 Not only this, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces perseverance; 4 and perseverance, proven character; and proven character, hope: 5 and hope doesn’t disappoint us, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us.

Hebrews 12:1-2
1 Therefore let us also, seeing we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, lay aside every weight and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let us run with perseverance the race that is set before us, 2 looking to Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising its shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
(WEB)
Pray this when you feel the race is too long. Ask God to help you lay aside what slows you down and to fix your eyes on Jesus, who endured more than you will ever face.
2 Corinthians 12:9
He has said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Most gladly therefore I will rather glory in my weaknesses, that the power of Christ may rest on me.
(WEB)
Pray this when you feel your weakness is too obvious. Ask God to let his grace be enough for you today, and to let his strength show most clearly in your limits.
How to Pray This Prayer
Many people find early morning, before the phone and the to-do list take over, the best time to pray for endurance. Sit somewhere quiet, such as a chair by a window or the edge of your bed, with a cup of something warm in your hands. Holding a cup, or pressing your palms together, can help you slow down and stay with the words instead of rushing through them.
You might also pray this with someone you trust, a spouse, a friend from church, or a small group. Ask them to pray it with you or to pray the shorter version over you when you are struggling to find words. Keeping a written copy somewhere you will see it, such as on the bathroom mirror or in your bag, lets you return to it during the hard moments of the day.
A Blessing to Close
May the Lord who gives strength to the weary strengthen you today. May he steady your steps, renew your hope, and remind you that you are not walking this road alone. May you find enough grace for the next hour, and then for the one after it.
