This page offers short prayers for single men: written words you can pray in the morning before the day begins, during a lonely evening, or at a moment when you simply do not know what to say to God. You can read the main prayer aloud exactly as it is written, or use it as a starting point and speak in your own words where your heart says something different.

Short Prayers for Single Men

Father, I am living in a season I did not necessarily choose. Some days I feel content with my life, and other days I look at the empty chair across the table or the quiet phone and wonder whether I am missing something you meant for me. Help me to trust that you see me, that my singleness is not a sign that I have been forgotten, and that you are present in my friendships, my work, and my ordinary Tuesday errands.

Guard my heart from comparing my story to the lives of my friends who are married or dating. Teach me to be a good friend, a faithful brother, a man who shows up for others with honesty and kindness. Keep me from using my time or my money as a way to fill a hole that only you can fill. Where I am tempted toward loneliness, pull me back toward community, and where I am tempted toward bitterness, soften me with your grace.

Whether you lead me into marriage someday or grow me in this season for a long time, let me be faithful with what is in front of me today. Give me wisdom in my choices and courage to be honest about my needs. I give you my hopes for love and family, and I trust you with the timing of every part of my life. Amen.

A Shorter Version to Pray in a Moment

Lord, I am feeling alone right now, and I do not want to pretend otherwise. Remind me that I am not forgotten and that you are near. Help me to be patient with this season and to see the people around me as gifts. Give me peace for the next hour and steady hope for the days ahead. Amen.

Scriptures to Pray Alongside

Psalm 46:10

“Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations. I will be exalted in the earth.”

(WEB)

When loneliness or restlessness makes it hard to think clearly, pray this verse slowly. Ask God to quiet the noise in your mind so you can rest in the truth that he is God and is not absent from your life.

Proverbs 3:5-6

5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. 6 In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.

(WEB)

Bring your plans about relationships, career, and the future to God in prayer. Ask him to help you trust his direction more than your own timeline, especially on the days when you feel uncertain about what comes next.

Philippians 4:6-7

6 In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus.

(WEB)

Use this passage when anxiety about being single starts to grow. Name each worry you carry, thank God for one thing you can see him doing, and ask him to guard your heart with his peace.

Ecclesiastes 4:9-10

9 Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their labor. 10 For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow; but woe to him who is alone when he falls, and doesn’t have another to lift him up.

(WEB)

Pray this verse for the friendships in your life and for the people you can help. Ask God to make you a companion who lifts others up, and to bring trustworthy friends alongside you when you need someone to help you stand.

Romans 12:10

In love of the brothers be tenderly affectionate to one another; in honor preferring one another…

(WEB)

Let this verse shape how you treat the people you meet. Ask God to help you show warm, honest affection to friends, family, and church members, so that your singleness becomes a place where others feel cared for.

How to Pray This Prayer

Many men find it helpful to pray the main prayer in the morning, before checking messages or scrolling through social media. Sit in a chair by a window or at the kitchen table with a cup of coffee in your hands, and read the prayer slowly, pausing after each paragraph to let the words settle before you move on.

You might also share this prayer with a close friend, a mentor, or a small group who can pray it with you or for you. Ask someone you trust to pray the shorter version over you on a hard day, and consider praying it together over a meal or during a walk. Hearing your own struggles spoken aloud by a brother in Christ can make the prayer feel less lonely.

A Blessing to Close

May the Lord who knows every part of your story keep you steady in this season. May he fill your days with good friendships, honest work, and quiet joy, and may he remind you often that you belong to him. May his peace guard your heart, and may you walk forward with confidence in his faithful love.
